The trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is out. It looks like a fun action movie with monsters.
In the fifth Monsterverse film, the giant monsters will team up again to face a new danger.
The initial teaser for the film does not reveal much about the plot. Nonetheless, based on the footage displayed, we have some ideas about the story.
For openers, we get a nice glimpse at the film’s antagonist. People believe that the Scar King, an ape-like titan, antagonized Kong’s ancestors. Based on the dialogue in the teaser, it seems like he can challenge both Kong and Godzilla. This suggests that they will need to team up to stop the Scar King from taking over Earth.
When it comes to Godzilla, they have given him a makeover for his upcoming film. In the trailer, we see the famous kaiju trapped in ice. Does this remind you of King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of Monsters? But it’s not long before he emerges from his frozen cocoon with a fresh, pink appearance. His atomic breath is pink, suggesting it will be much stronger than before.
The film might answer old questions and give clues about the future of the franchise.

The Scar King left a big red handprint on a structure in the Hollow Earth. The Hollow Earth is a subterranean planet where titans come from. Is the Scar King responsible for the handprints shown in Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong? Did he leave them as a warning to other titans, in case he plans to come back? Did the Scar King cause the death of Kong’s family? They found his handprint on Skull Island.
In the film series, a teaser shows a young ape meeting Kong and humans from Hollow Earth. Is this monster Kong’s progeny, or is it a ruse of some kind? It’s the first one. Reports of a Godzilla vs. Kong sequel said it would be about the Son of Kong.
We’ll find out for sure on April 12, 2024, when Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire hits theaters worldwide. We’re glad that Godzilla vs. Kong started the Monsterverse, regardless of unanswered issues.
